In fact, most Americans would not readily claim to hold white supremacist values as their own. They might even claim the opposite is true as an official American Story or NNP ("national narrative project"): we are a country of immigrants where anyone can tap into their rugged individualism to realize the American Dream or their genetic potential. But the CrossFit story that taps into these desires and dreams comes from historical legacies, bringing with it underlying codes that work on us covertly and unconsciously. These underlying codes operate in the background, in the wake of hundreds of years linking exceptionalism with God's chosen people, the white, male, Christian American meant to win the West (and other imperialistic battles) through heroic individualism, vigilante justice, and Manifest Destiny.
