What a strange but delightful book. I was convinced I didn't like it at first, actually, but Piranesi the character--so spiritual, competent, and thoughtful--really drew me in.
I was expecting this to be a bit of a depressing read but it actually totally wasn't! I quite enjoyed the poems, many of which were focused on nature and transience. Reading details about the poet's lives was fun too. Yeah, I would definitely read this again.
Funnily enough, as a teen, I think I somehow skipped reading the very first novel in the Chronicles and just hopped around in the series. So it was cool to read the beginning. It was much darker than I expected, but I enjoyed the tension, romance, angst, and longing.
I was really rooting for Louis and Armand.
