Detailed view of boarding school

I can only guess that the author had a traumatic time in boarding school and wanted to experience what a good school master would be like. The amount of detail of the master's daily life was exhausting, in an actual sense.

That said, if you can stomach or even enjoy the diary-like exposition, the magical action and the ending are great.
