Neither Darwinian nor Creationist, this discussion of the concepts related to creation ranges from the doctrinal, through the scriptural, the scientific, and the philosophical. The aim is to present the unity of truth, including traditional Catholic theology and modern scientific theory. Evolution as a single family tree of life, and the Big Bang as a "day without a yesterday" are explained. A number of creationist arguments for a young earth are explained and rejected for their elementary failure to take modern physics, geology, and biology into account. Certain Darwinian concepts are also rejected, while the semi-meiotic hypothesis is presented as thought provoking potential solution to the puzzle of species origin. New for this edition is a more extended discussion of evolution.
