The biography of Babe Ruth as told through vignettes.

1 edition

An Odd Biography

3 stars

This is the biography of babe Ruth. It is well researched and charts the rise of celebrity among athletes. Unfortunately, Ruth's story is told through a series of vignettes that sometimes are only tangentially about Ruth. It also repeats aspects of his life and jumps around in time. This makes it a very long and hard to read book.

An Odd Way to Write a Biography

3 stars

This book tells the story of Babe Ruth by way of a series of vignettes. The stories are not always about Babe Ruth specifically but rather people who intersected his life at various points. Many of these people are tangential to the core story of Babe Ruth. The best aspect is how it shows the rise of celebrity among athletes. Unfortunately, the book jumps around in time and often repeats itself. It's also a very long book made longer by the way it is written.
