Dr. M. Daniel Carroll R. (Rodas) is the Scripture Press Ministries Chair of Biblical Studies and Pedagogy at Wheaton College. Dr. Carroll holds a B.A. in English Literature from Rice University, a Th.M. in Old Testament from Dallas Theological Seminary, and a Ph.D. in Old Testament from The University of Sheffield.
Dr. Carroll has been a Blanchard Professor of Old Testament since coming to Wheaton in 2016. Prior faculty appointments include Professor of Old Testament and Ethics at El Seminario Teológico Centroamericano (SETECA), Guatemala, and Distinguished Professor of Old Testament at Denver Seminary. Dr. Carroll’s teaching and scholarship cover a range of topics for a range of audiences. He has published technical exegetical monographs in Old Testament studies, works that integrate biblical studies with ethics and theology, and church-facing work that contributes to the life and mission of the church—and he has done so in both English and Spanish.
Dr. Carroll has published The Bible and Borders: Hearing God’s Word on Immigration. He has a major commentary on the book of Amos, in the highly regarded NICOT (New International Commentary on the Old Testament) series.
