In the shabby district called Tortilla Flat above Monterey, California lives a gang whose exploits compare to those of King Arthur's knights.

When Danny returns to Tortilla Flat after World War I, he moves into a house left to him by his grandfather. One by one, various people are drawn to Danny's house, lured by Danny's generosity and the camaraderie that springs up around him.

Review of 'Tortilla Flat' on 'Goodreads'

I read this one aloud to my partner a little at a time over the course of a few weeks. It was fun, like a comedic soap opera. It's slow paced, and the characters are cute. If you liked Cannery Row you'll feel right at home with this one.
