Peripatos reviewed War Lord by Bernard Cornwell
Same old Uthred - in a good and bad way
3 stars
Honestly after the 5 first Uthred books the novelty wore off. The shieldwalls stayed the same, Uthred's brooding became so familiar and the run through Englands unification was rather samy.
But still it's a quick read and I don't regret finishing the Uthred-Saga. When you accept that you'll get the same characters doing the same things over and over again against new foes who stay are in a way similar to each other you get your fair historic entertainment out of it. So 3 stars from the bottom of my heart for Uthred and is gang of merry northern heathens and Christians.
